The Tim Amann Quartet, established in 1995, is a jazz band based in the West Midlands county of the UK. The band is led by Tim Amann, after whom the band is named. Recently the band has been renamed as Xtet as confirmed by Amann himself in October 2009. Tim Amann is a well-renowned British jazz musician. He began playing jazz at the age of fifteen, and was a regular player at The Cannonball in Digbeth. Between 1992 and 1994 he led a successful quartet with saxophonist Ian Ellis. In 1995 he founded the Tim Amann Quartet, and enjoyed a number of successes, including the production of two albums, ''Xtet'' and ''The Scarecrows''. He is also a self-admitted Newcastle United fan with links to Canadian hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs. Amann currently works as the Head of Government and Politics, and a KS3 onwards history teacher at King Edward VI Aston school, where his jazz background influences the school jazz ensemble, which he leads.
